Kingsday 2023
Just like last year, King’s Day was once again celebrated in Blixembosch.
Again a number of attractions was set up on the Ouvertureplein, where the youth could let off steam: bouncy castle Jumping Balls, a boxing wall, a super slide and a bouncy castle for the little ones.
When the party started at noon, it was already pleasantly busy and there was immediately plenty of enthusiasm for free cotton candy, popcorn, orange juice and mandarins.
There was also a queue of children who wanted to have a beautiful face drawn in front of the face painting stand. In the photo corner, children could be photographed as king or queen. Along the square, children could take a ride on one of the two ponies.
Sports school Anita van der Pas gave a demonstration of judo and taekwondo and DéDé Dance also gave a performance with a few dance groups.
Various local residents had put their things for sale on a rug or table for the flea market.
The inner man was also taken care of. Blixems had set up an outdoor bar where drinks could be purchased. And there were many food stalls: fish stock from Buurman Kees, pasta snacks and hot chocolate, waffles, Afghan snacks and Surinamese delicacies.
To increase the fun, there was also a live performance by singer John Belton.
Partly due to the beautiful weather, there was a large turnout. There were also many expats from our neighborhood, which gave the party an international touch.
