Looking Back on King’s Day 2025
This year, King’s Day was once again celebrated in grand fashion in Blixembosch. Several attractions were set up on the Ouvertureplein, providing plenty of fun for the youth: a bouncy castle and a mega inflatable obstacle course. Many children bravely jumped from a window in a simulated burning house!

There were also several large games to enjoy: a basketball game, a giant dartboard, and a 3-in-1 throwing game.

When the festivities kicked off at noon, it was already pleasantly busy. There was an immediate rush for the free cotton candy, lemonade, and mandarins. At 1:00 PM, the dance groups from DeDe Dance performed, followed by a group of expats from India who showcased several traditional dances.

At the face painting booth, a line of children quickly formed, all eager to have their faces beautifully painted. In the photo corner, kids could pose as a king or queen. Alongside the square, children could also enjoy a ride on one of the two ponies.

Many local residents set up their goods for sale at the flea market, using blankets or small tables. Food and drink were also well taken care of. Blixems had a pop-up outdoor bar serving drinks, and there were many food stalls: a fish stand from Neighbor Kees, savory snacks, waffles, and various booths hosted by expats. Wil Brans from the “De Blauwe Bij” beekeeping farm was also present with a honey stand. He provided explanations and displayed parts of a beehive.

To add to the cheerful atmosphere, DeeJee Anco provided music throughout the day. Thanks in part to the beautiful weather, there was a great turnout. Many expats from the neighborhood joined in, giving the celebration an international flavor.
